This is a short article that aims to discuss the importance of calcium channel blockers in the management of chronic kidney disease. It is worth stating that commonly, chronic kidney disease is managed with an ACE-Inhibitor or an Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (ARB). Patients with fluid overload will also benefit from diuretics. However, according to the KDIGO 2021 Guidelines for the management of blood pressure in patients with CKD, adult patients who are kidney transplant recipients will also benefit from a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, such as amlodipine.
