Mind The Gap is a very interesting student-staff partnership project. It includes a clinical handbook that displays and describes several dermatological pathologies in patients with black and brown skin. This is important because it has also become a global movement. The project highlights the lack of diversity in the medical literature.
It was created by Malone Mukwende currently a medical student (St George’s University of London), Dr. Peter Tamony a Senior Lecturer in Diversity and Medical Education (St George’s University of London), and Margot Turner who is a Senior Lecturer in Diversity and Medical Education (St George’s University of London). The project was created in 2019-2020 and since its creation, the team has also developed an app called Hutano.
Hutano is a social health platform that allows black and brown people to share and discuss their skin conditions in a safe space.
