About Us

Who Are We

QuickBeat originated as an idea during our university days. However, it wasn’t until 2021 that this concept materialised into a partly finished web platform. The name QuickBeat is a play on the word “tachycardia,” which simply means an elevated heart rate. That same heart rate occurs when we are studying, taking an exam, or saving a patient’s life. At the time, the aim was to develop a web platform containing local medical content to help healthcare students study more effectively, with the goal of reducing the side effects of this tachycardia.

Once we became qualified doctors, we realised that “tachycardia” persists in many different forms. Doctors need to be ready to act at a moment’s notice. For this reason, a group of friends from different cities across South Africa created a platform that is free, easily accessible, and provides medical education to the health professionals of South Africa.

What We Do

Our goal is straightforward: free, inclusive medical education. This should be delivered in an engaging and entertaining way. We recognise that healthcare professionals are lifelong learners. However, for many, it can be challenging to maintain the same level of study as during university days. QuickBeat aims to offer articles that are concise and easy to read. We also endeavour to include radiological images and interpretations within the articles. Some articles are additionally summarised with a voice note.

Every year, healthcare professionals face challenges with information about their new hospital. For this reason, we created a page dedicated to providing all kinds of hospital information.

We also dedicated two pages solely to guiding doctors with their Courses and Podcasts that might interest them. Recently, we added a Blog page where we will discuss important general topics related to healthcare and other issues.

We also aim to make things easier for health care professionals who are auditory learners by providing them with audio summaries of each article. We have also created two pages specifically to guide doctors with their courses and podcasts they might be interested in. Recently, we added a Blog page where we discuss important general topics related to health care and other issues.
